Need to transcribe audio for free? Merrittrix is a browser-based audio transcriber and speech-to-text tool for turning recordings into text without a subscription or account. Upload an MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, or other supported audio file and run Whisper directly in your browser. It is useful for interviews, lectures, meetings, voice notes, classes, research recordings, podcasts, personal recordings, and other audio you have permission to transcribe.
Because transcription is performed locally in your browser, Merrittrix does not need to upload your recording to a transcription server. There is no server-side transcription bill being passed on to you and no artificial monthly transcription allowance. The tradeoff is that processing speed depends on your computer and the Whisper model you choose. Smaller models are quicker to load and run, while larger models such as Medium can take substantially more time, memory, and storage but may produce stronger results.
Privacy & use
Audio is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to Merrittrix for transcription. Only transcribe audio you have the right to use and recordings made with appropriate consent. Your browser may download and cache the selected Whisper model files from the model host on first use; your audio itself is processed locally.
